The picture is of part of the coast line of Okinawa, Japan's largest southernmost island.  It is one of Imre Kalman's favourite places and to which he often returns, both to perform and to hold master classes.  He and his friend, Claus Franke, who makes his home on the island, have been in musical collaboration over the last twenty-five years -- a partnership which, due to their enduring friendship and musical rapport has had its result in many memorable performances of works for cello and piano.
